food cravings

Every once in a while I get a craving for something strange or unidentified. For the last couple hours I've been seriously craving......something. It obviously isn't in my kitchen, which makes it harder to satisfy. I don't know. I think I want something that's somewhat starchy and salty. Maybe something like french fries with salt and vinegar (think fish 'n chips) or .....yeah I don't know. Usually, I can talk my cravings into being a want of chocolate....even when that's not what's really being craved....especially when there is a huge tub of chocolate icecream in the fridge. Oh! Or maybe one of those big soft salty pretzels with mustard?

Talking all your cravings into chocolate is some pretty good negotiating!

I get some pretty serious red meat cravings at times, and I know that in part they are caused by a need for iron. If I eat iron-rich foods that should help, right?
Yeah - a big plate of kale and broccoli doesn't seem to fix them... :)

I counteract the iron craving with tomatoes.

You should try the unlikely combo of a big, soft, salty pretzel and vanilla icing. Very yummy! But not for the iron/meat cravings...just yummy ones.
