Insert somewhat witty title here

As of Monday I'm officially a language arts teacher again. Not that I really stopped but with summer break 'n all... It seems like the mental stressers have switched places. For the first quarter (classes only last for quarters here vs. semesters) I only have to prep for three classes: part two of sophomore English, part two of junior English, and Sci-Fi. Three classes seems like cake compared to the six classes plus electives it took to cover the jr. high and high school previously. Yay for student populations large enough to not have to combine jr. and high school! Ummm...but that's the thing, this school has a significantly larger population than I'm used to...alright not really a big deal but still stressful....it also has kids who are there to learn, who want to get that degree and use it.....huge difference there. Honestly, it scares me. I've been tweaking lesson plans over and over, not satisfied that they will work for these kids (I have no idea if they will or not) because they are too similar to what my students could handle previously. I had good kids, some were very smart, and they were hard working....but in a completely different way. They were most definitely At-Risk students. From all sources these aren't.

I'll be fine....I'm not getting in over my head................am I?

dude, don't be silly - you rock the teaching and if they are there to learn even better, then you get to see results more 'cause they're trying, if the lessons are not hard enough, that's great - no dumbing it down - either way you will rock it!

maybe I've been in Japan too long, but self-expression activities always seem the most challenging and time consuming for students. Probably Japan though...
