Umm..Summer Break?

So, today was the last day of school. It was a great day....a great week actually. The kids were in rare form all week, prom was a blast (there are several stories there...and pictures), graduation was last night (a packed house for the 3 seniors), and our annual picnic at the beach for today. They conned me into playing softball, just for one inning, and wow! I suck. It was not pretty....but it was fun. I'm much better at volley ball, which we played as well.

And today was my last day at Charter. I'm kind of up in the air about how I feel about this. I knew I was leaving. Shoot! I've been planning this for almost a year now. And I knew it would involve leaving a group of kids I've become emotionally invested it. It somewhat feels like I broke up with my students. There are several who asked for email and/or phone number to keep in touch. Two students weaseled promises out of me - that I'll come back for their graduations. It's hard to think about going to school next year and not having these kids. I'd hard to wrap my brain around the idea that in under two weeks I won't even be in the same town as them. No more just seeing them out.

On the flip side, today was my last day at Charter. This summer holds a move to an area that contains many things I call entertainment. It also has a group of people I'd like to get better acquainted with. Friends are good in my book. There is a new school...a new challenge..waiting for me in August. It will be good. It is good!

And now that I've typed this whole thing, I think I am going to update the school blog a bit this weekend. Finish it up. Give Classroom 9 the closing it deserves rather than this frustrated non-posting that I've let happen.

I don't know how to feel about it all, but today was my last day of school at Charter, and I'm a bit sunburned.....even with sunscreen. *sigh*
